Enough blame to go around
In this interview, which ESPN said was his first since the incident, the coach remained unapologetic, saying his team stopped pressing in the first quarter and that they played the game the "right way."
There was video that one of the fathers from that team provided where is basically shows the losing team throwing the ball the away or having it stolen from them and the winning team running down for easy layups. Since the video was a glorified highlight package you really couldn't tell whether the winning team indeed take the press off after the first quarter.
Then you come to find out that this losing team hasn't won a game in something like four years, which asks the question of who I blame more for this.
While I absolutely believe that know coach in our area would ever let a game get that out of hand, as that coach from Texas did, I have to think why is this losing team allowed to play varsity basketball in the first place.
I'm all for giving everyone the opportunity to play competitive sports, I have to believe there comes a time when common sense has to rule. Maybe if it did here -- on both sides -- we wouldn't have had the national mess this story became.
