It's (almost) baseball time
Now that the NFL is behind us, we can now turn our attention to my favorite sport -- baseball.
I can't believe we're a week away from pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training. It seemed liked only yesterday the Red Sox were sweeping the Rockies in the World Series.
And undoubtedly baseball will be in the headlines for the forseeasble future with everything going on with this whole Roger Clemens' saga. After reading that his former trainer can produce -- or has produced a bloody syringe which will show he injected Rocket with steroids seven years ago, two thoughts cross my mind.
1) Clemens better hope the evidence is bogus, or he might find himself sitting next to Barry Bonds in federal prison.
and
2) Gross!! Who the heck keeps a bloody syringe for like seven years. That really sounds creepy.
Anyway, I can't wait for that first pitch. Can you?
Until next time, take care and God bless.

I don't know what to make of Clemens. I do believe that he used steroids, but why would he deny that under oath? There has to be some legal jargon that he's hiding under. There isn't the paper trail with Clemens like there were for other players. It looks like Clemens got the steroids and gave them McNammee to inject him with. Other players wrote checks and love notes to McNammee and Radomski, so the paper trail exists---see LoDuca, Paul, now catching for my Washington Nationals. Yikes!
I think Clemens is using that lack of paper trail to deny usage. If Clemens says he didn't do drugs and McNammee says he did, perjury can never be proven. If McNammee can provide real evidence, then Clemens may be in deep trouble.
What I hate is that there are football players who get suspended for using drugs. When Shawn Merriman was out for four games in 2006, it was hardly discussed. In baseball, it is a moral outrage. Why the double standard?
The carving board was out for Santana today. The Mets certainly got themselves the second best pitcher in the game. I'm still taking Josh Beckett until he blows up in the playoffs, but Santana is a great one.
Ron, what about the PRO BOWL. The NFL season lives! lol
I grew up in Buffalo and before cable TV and WOR and WPIX with the Mets and Yankees, we used to get Montreal Expos baseball on CBC TV every Wednesday and Saturday with Dave Van Horne (now with the Marlins) and Duke Snider. Blue Monday still hurts---Game 5, 1981 NLCS.
In 1977, still before cable, the Blue Jays were shown on CTV, the other Canadian television network. I grew up a fan of both teams and when Les Expos left for Washington, I had to go with them.
Just wanted to let you know whay I liek the Nats. They will surprise in '08!
