So, MLB commissioner Bud Selig is proposing to alter next season's schedule so that the World Series ends in October?

Let me be the first to say, "It's about time!"

The World Series should begin and end in October, not November. The first time baseball stretched into November was in 2001 but there was a very good reason -- the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Now, however, the season is extended solely to appease ESPN and Fox. That's not right.

I don't care if the season begins a couple of days earlier. It's already cold and rainy and snowy here in the Northeast, so what's a couple of days going to matter.

So, bravo, Bud! Now if you can take away the league that wins the All-Star Game getting home field advantage for the World Series, that would be even better.

It's been a couple of days since the passing of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner. By now we've learned just about everything we can possibly learn about the Boss and one question I have is: "Does George Steinbrenner belong in the Hall of Fame?"

It's an interesting question and quite frankly I don't know what the answer is.

I'm not sure any owner belongs in the Hall of Fame, but if any owner does, perhaps Steinbrenner is one that belongs.

He bought a franchise for roughly $10 million (only a couple hundred thousand was his own money) and turned it into a global empire worth billions of dollars.

I'm sure the question will be asked many times over the coming weeks, months, years. I'll be interested to see the final result.

We're about an hour away from LeBron James' big decision and now it appears the King is headed to Miami to play with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

I don't know about you, but while this has been more fun than I thought, I'm ready for it to be over.

I just feel bad for Cleveland, New York, New Jersey, Chicago and the Clippers. They can say what they will, but their free agency was built around getting LeBron and if he goes to the Heat, there will be a lot of hard feeling in three major markets.

Should make for a fun season. Don't you think?

Well, the continuing national saga that is LeBron James will finally reach its conclusion tomorrow.

I, for one, can't wait.

This story has gone on for far too long and it's hard to believe any one player in any sport can hold an entire league hostage. Will he stay in Cleveland? Will he go to Miami? Or New York? Or Chicago?

Will he make his announcement Monday? Or Tuesday? Or Tomorrow? Will it be in Ohio? New York? Connecticut?

At this point I could care less.

But, if you're asking, don't be surprised if King James dons a Knicks cap tomorrow night when he makes his announcement as part of a 1-hour ESPN special.

The King at Madison Square Garden? Maybe there isn't an end in sight to the LeBron story.
